ABOUT US

Community Schools transform schools into community hubs for needed services. This means we help our students and their families access support systems and opportunities from right here within the school. Offering programs from health services to computer classes, and from ESL to yoga, our School Advisory Board and Community School Director develop partnerships to bring what you need within reach.

Seth Low is proud to be a Community Learning School!

Our Mission Statement

Our goal is to develop students with a passion for learning who take ownership of their academic success. Through ongoing teacher development, partnerships with parents & community, and continuous assessment/improvement feedback, Seth Low Intermediate School aims to graduate students who will go on to high school and college prepared to be model students and citizens. All staff are focused on optimal student achievement, with instruction methods that reflect proven classroom techniques and practices, including current advances and research. Teachers model “lifelong learning” in their commitment to professional development, professionalism, personal integrity, and high ethical standards.  We shape the culture of this school into one of mutual support and respect, modeling this behavior among our colleagues in order to set the tone for the student body.

Teachers strive to build a practice of learning that celebrates students’ diverse experiences and contributions, and results in classrooms full of students who are academically and emotionally empowered to deeply engage with, and even challenge, the material.

Here at Seth Low, we recognize that strong partnerships with families and our communities are necessary to insure student success. We strive to empower caregivers to play a crucial role in the academic and personal development of their children, to form ongoing relationships with teachers and faculty, and to personally monitor their children’s academic progress.  Our community partners’ and our own programming are geared toward supporting families and caregivers in their personal and professional success so that they can more fully participate in their children’s academic and social-emotional learning.

Our students come from all over the world, and from many faiths, cultures, and languages.
